✨ Resident Engagement

Independent evaluation of management

Our mgt does a survey of the residents but it is more pro mgt structured. Wouldn't really find out what is liked or disliked. Our Resident council here at Patriots Colony did a survey in 2024 but were asked to remove any specific questions about mgt. Their cover letter said:(extracted this sentence)

In addition, the Council has an obligation to maintain a comprehensive understanding of current resident satisfaction in the various aspects of life at PCAW beyond what we obtain from ongoing interactions. We'd also like your views on how well the Council is serving you and on two other important questions. The purpose of the survey is to provide feedback to the Residents Council only.

Since I can't attach the survey, here are the 5 questions:

THINKING ABOUT ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE AT PATRIOTS COLONY (FELLOW RESIDENTS, STAFF, SERVICES, ACTIVITIES, FACILITIES, HEALTH CARE, COMMUNICATIONS, MANAGEMENT POLICIES), PLEASE RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE “SATISFIERS” – THE ASPECTS WITH WHICH YOU ARE MOST SATISFIED? a. ___________________ b. ___________________ c. ___________________

2. WHAT, IF ANY, ARE YOUR TOP THREE “DISSATISFIERS”? a. ___________________ b. ___________________ c. ___________________

3. ON A SCALE OF ONE TO FIVE, FIVE BEING HIGHEST, HOW WOULD YOU RATE THE RESIDENTS COUNCIL OVERALL IN ITS EXECUTION OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES ASSIGNED IN THE BYLAWS AND IN PROMOTING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY ACROSS THE CAMPUS? ______ WHAT COULD WE DO BETTER?________________________________________

4.USING THE SAME SCALE AS IN #3, HOW RESPONSIVE IS MANAGEMENT TO RESIDENTS’ CONCERNS? ______

5. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND PATRIOTS COLONY TO YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS? YES / NO IF NO, WHY NOT? ______________________

We just did our own for the first time here at John Knox Village (Pompano Beach).

The resident planning committee at my CCRC has asked how many CCRCs do their own resident satisfaction survey. There is comfort in numbers when making the proposal to our resident executive committee.

Numbers, please?

i'm not sure how you would do it, but it would be great if you would share your questionnaire with the NaCCRA members. It's always nice not to have to re-invent the wheel.

Thank you,

Our CCRC has used Navari survey that occurred every two years until covid. Since then, we have had a partial, in-house survey that was totally inadequate to meet our needs. After reading your post, I was wondering if you could send me an electronic copy of the survey being used in your facility.

Loomis Communities (non-profit, 3 communities in Massachusetts) used Halloren regularly for many years but stopped just prior to Covid. Residents at Applewood (one of the three Loomis Communities) developed our own community evaluation, questioning residents on everything from management, maintenance, dining services, health services, etc.. We had residents who were skilled in questionnaire development and a retired statistician who produced excellent charts and graphs. The survey was praised by many indepenedent readers.and had some startling and significant results. Many changes were recommended and the most important ones have been acepted and implemented.

Yes, our group of nonprofit CCRCs typically have an annual resident satisfaction survey conducted by Halleran. I'm a resident of Wind Crest, which is one of a group of approximately 20 nonprofit CCRCs that are managed by Erickson Senior Living (a for-profit). But our group of CCRCs are under the governance and policy oversight of a nonprofit 501c3 Supporting Organization named National Senior Communities (NSC). I'm told that the Holleran survey is currently sponsored and paid for by NSC, as part of their oversight function with regard to the review of management.

Yes

Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg, PA uses Holleran almost every year to evaluate resident satisfaction. Management shares the results and their action plans to address the areas that show low resident satisfaction.

Does your community use Holleran survey or some other means to evaluate management?
