Hillcrest Names Interim CEO as Longtime Leader Resigns
Brethren Hillcrest Homes, a nonprofit Life Plan Community in La Verne, California, has appointed Chief Financial Officer Joel Brouwer as interim president and CEO. The organization’s August 28 notice says Brouwer brings more than 25 years of financial and strategic leadership experience and joined Hillcrest in 2023.
Matthew Neeley resigned after more than 20 years as president and CEO. The board has activated a succession plan and will begin a search for a permanent successor. Hillcrest says operations and resident services will continue as usual and describes the organization as financially strong during the transition. For residents, leadership changes can raise practical questions about continuity, communication, and the priorities that will shape the next chapter.
