password-protected resident directory or portal

I'm interested in convincing my CEO to start a password-protected resident directory or portal at my residential senior living facility. Starting this discussion should benefit others if they don't have a robust resident resident directory,

If you answer one or more of these questions I would appreciate it.

1. “Do you have a password-protected resident directory or portal?”

2. “May residents voluntarily add a biography, former career, interests, skills, affiliations, or photo?”

3. “Can residents search by those fields, or only browse alphabetically?”

4. “Is participation opt-in, and can each resident control what is visible?”

5. “Is the tool part of a resident app, an intranet, a resident association website, or directory software?”

6. “Who maintains it: staff, the residents’ association, or a volunteer committee?”

7. “Has it helped newcomers connect, clubs recruit members, or residents find others with shared interests?”

Pennswood Village has used TouchTown (Uniguest) for years. It provides many useful services including a searchable member directory. This is a boon, especially to newcomers. You can, for example, search for "Carol" to identify someone you met. All the Carols will pop up and you can scan through the photos and bios to fully identify who "Carol" is. You can search a phone number from your caller ID to see if you want to return an otherwise anonymous call.

There are numerous providers, among them Wellzesta. AI promises to be a disrupter in this market. But before you decide, check the experiences of those who already have the service you are considering. Sales people sometimes promise more than engineers can deliver.
