You would not expect to find ageism in a community organized for the benefit of seniors. Look carefully and you will find it, and it has a negative impact on the quality of life if it is ignored. This forum is for raising awareness and discussing strategies to expose it.

In addition to Independent Living (IL), most CCRCs have Assisted Living (AL) and Skilled Nursing (SN) facilities on the same site and are included in their Continuing Care contract. However, there is no standard and very little regulation or oversight except for skilled nursing. Post your thoughts and comment about Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing in this forum.

2/13/25 NEW, Broader Purpose. Let's add **any and all sources of help** with conflict resolution to this forum. Continue to share experiences related to state legislatures and to determine how many states have Independent Living Ombudsmans and other CCRC regulations. How did these states get legislation passed that provides CCRC residents with increased protections and a greater role in the governance of their communities? For the states that have ombudsmen, how well is the program working?

This is the Forum to discuss and ask questions about the different contract types and their provisions.

Discuss how your CCRC/LifePlan community engages with your Board of Directors and senior management. For example, does your community have residents on your Board? If so how many? Do they have a vote? How are they selected?

This is the place to talk about community living including pets, programs, and activities that enhance life. It's more that amenities, sports, and entertainments -- it's also about spirit, the sense of welcome, belonging, and affinity.

Leading Age opposes Federal legislation to establish minimum standards. Other patient advocacy groups support it. What are the considerations? Should NaCCRA be advocating in this issue?

This discussion is about the social and practical benefits of participating in your community council or association, a regional association, state association, or NaCCRA. The theme is "solidarity" and the benefits of networking.

Many managed senior communities have a charitible component. These take many forms including affiliated foundations, and some raise money directly. If your community raised money for scholarships, resident benovelence, employee gifts or scholarships, or other charitable purposes, network here with other resident fundraisers.

In 2025 these Federal/State payer systems are political targets. The forum is for discussions of policy and also personal experiences with the programs.

For NaCCRA members who want to share ideas and experience with any technology used by residents and communities. For experts, novices, and the curious. Topics range widely and include phones, computers, the Internet, Community TV, Video production, Stagecraft, Broadcast, and digital communications

Hospice, Death Cafes, Death Doulas, and reflections on the end of life are often avoided as socially awkward. This is the place to speak of such matters.

This Forum is for leaders in Community associations to share information about organizing and supporting associations in CCRC communities

This is a special forum primarily for Florida residents to discuss pending legislation to give CCRC residents a more favorable position than their present status as unsecured creditors of the corporations that own their community assets.
